Sao Tome and Principe - 2004 Issues Full Set

A set of four notes all issued with the date of 2004 all with two security threads. The denominations are 5000, 10000, 20000 and 50000 Dobras. All notes depict the bust of Rei Amador (King Amador) who started the slave revolt against the Portuguese on 9.7.1595 and proclaimed himself as King. The Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe was once a colony of Portugal (Independence 12.07.1975). Obviously this is a Portuguese speaking nation. The country is situated at the Gulf of Guinea. The country consists mainly of two main islands called Sao Tome and Principe and is separated by 140 kilometres apart and is about 225 kilometres from the coast of Gabon. This country also has a rather small population, less than 200,000 people and this could be the reason that not many reprint of banknotes have been issued. Sao Tome and Principe is the second smallest nation in Africa, after Seychelles. The country holds the records being the most stable and democratic country in the African continent.
