Kinkon Dam was the first dam in Guinea built by
the Chinese government in 1966 as a gift to the people of Guinea. The
dam is situated near Pita, Fouta Djaton (400 kilometers north of the
capital Conakry) and in 2006 the dam was upgraded at a cost of US$2.5M
to provide a capacity output of 3.4MW.

This new 20,000 Francs was introduced in 2015 as a new denomination. The front of the note depicts a young woman. The back of the note has the main design of the Kaleta Hydropower Station. This station is currently being built and is expected to commence operation in 2016. The construction for this dam is undertaken by a Chinese company called China International Water & Electric Corporation. The project is worth US$446.2 million it takes 48 months to install with an output capacity of 240MW once completed.
