This 20-dinar was issued on 21.12.2017 featuring the Tunisian trade unionist Farhat Hached on the front and the image of the amphitheater of El Jem on the back. Farhat Hached was born in 1914 and was assassinated in 1952 by the then Tunisia’s colonial master, the French Intelligence Services. He was killed in broad daylight with a single shot to his head after following him from his home on the morning of 05.12.1952. Prior to his death, he was involved in the pro-independence movement to free Tunisia from France. Tunisia eventually gained its independence on 20.03.1956.

This note is coated with varnish to improve its longevity whilst in circulation.
